Orion Player Privacy Policy

1. Scope

Orion Player is a media player. It does not provide, distribute, or sell television channels, playlists, movies, series, or subscriptions. Users are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary rights to access and play any content added to the app.

2. Information We Process

Depending on how you use the app, Orion Player may process the following information:

• Device information: the TV device identifier (such as a MAC address or a locally generated identifier when a MAC address is unavailable), TV model, and app version. This is used to identify the device, manage access, and provide the service.
• Playlist information: playlist name, server or playlist URL, username, password, and related connection details that you choose to submit. This information is used only to connect the app to the media source selected by you.
• Account and support information: when you create a portal account, we process your name, email address, password hash, session tokens, profile details, linked devices, contacts, and support information that you submit.
• Payment and license information: we process the payment provider, amount, currency, status, transaction reference, selected license, and linked device. Card or PayPal account credentials are entered directly with the payment provider and are not stored by Orion Player.
• Local app data: preferences, language and display settings, favorites, recently used interface state, and temporary content cache. This information is stored on your TV to improve performance and restore your app experience.
• Browser storage: the website may store a login session, recently used device identifier, and interface preferences in session storage or local storage. Selecting “Remember me” keeps the login session in local storage until you log out or clear browser data.
• Approximate location and weather data: the app may request country, approximate location, and weather information to display local weather on the home screen. This request is made through the external services described below.
• Technical diagnostics: when diagnostic logging is enabled for support purposes, limited technical information such as error messages, app state, and device identifier may be sent to our service.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• authenticate and recognize the TV device;
• store and retrieve the playlist configuration requested by the user;
• load, organize, and play user-selected media sources;
• save app preferences, favorites, and cache data locally;
• display optional local weather information; and
• diagnose technical issues and maintain the service.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for targeted advertising. We may share information only as necessary to provide the app and its requested features:

• User-selected media providers: when you add a playlist or media source, the app or backend may connect to that provider using the connection information you supplied. That provider's own privacy policy applies to its service.
• Payment providers: payments may be processed by Stripe or PayPal. Their privacy terms apply to the payment information they receive.
• Security provider: the website uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish legitimate users from automated abuse. Cloudflare may process limited device and network signals for this purpose.
• Location and weather providers: the home screen may use ipapi.co for approximate location and Open-Meteo for weather information.
• Service providers: hosting, security, and infrastructure providers may process data on our behalf to operate the service.

5. Data Retention

Local app data remains on the TV until it is cleared through the app, the app is removed, or the device storage is cleared. Browser data remains until the session ends, you log out, or you clear it, depending on the “Remember me” choice. Server-side account, device, playlist, license, and transaction information is retained only for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve support requests, maintain security, prevent fraud, or meet legal and accounting obligations.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You should only add media sources that you trust and should keep your playlist credentials confidential.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can choose not to add a playlist or use the weather feature. You may request access, correction, or deletion of server-side data associated with your device identifier, subject to applicable law.

8. Children

Orion Player is not directed to children under the age at which parental consent is required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or our data practices change. The latest version will always be available at this page, together with its effective date.
